Definitely consider a walking tour (with or without a guide) to get an effective overview of the most interesting places and basic information. To soak up the local atmosphere, here are a few tips.

Breakfast on the street

In the Lesser Town there is a Vacek grocery store in Mostecká Street where you can buy pastries in the morning and have a coffee. They are open from 7:00 a.m.. Around the corner on the street is a cofee bar called Minners, they are open from 8:00 a.m.

For Americans, there’s a Mc Donalds a few metres away(open 7:30 a.m.), or Starbugs on Malostranské náměstí (open 8:00 a.m.).

Fun way of exploring the city

At these places you have a choice of three outdoor escape games. They are called “city games” and are a specialty in Prague. It is a tourist walk, where you use your mobile phone to discover the city.

Charles bridge tour / game tour

The interactive Charles Bridge is quietly waiting to offer you an inspiring experience of Prague that is likely to resonate with you for a long time to come. Take a stroll across the bridge, stopping at each statue and you’ll quickly discover which statue it is. Your mobile phone will be your guide. The game offers a quiz question for each statue and during the game you will take a simple test. This way you will enjoy and get to know the bridge with all the details.

Take a walk through the gardens

Lesser Town (Malá Strana) in Prague is home to several beautiful gardens and green spaces. Location: Near the Church of St. Nicholas is Vrtba Garden (Vrtbovská zahrada). Below the Charles Bridge in Lesser Town is Kampa Park (Kampa Island).

Somewhat hidden, but very popular garden with beautiful birds, peacocks is called Vojanovy sady. Locals come here to relax and contemplate.

The Holy grail tour game

In Vojanovy sady, this is where next one of the locally outdoor escape games starts. It’s called “The Search for the Holy Grail“. You will stroll through the streets of the Lesser Town, parks, stop by Lennon’s wall on the way and you won’t be bored. The tasks will lead you to Prague’s best kept secret. A pleasant walk will motivate you to have a good lunch.

Lunch at a Traditional Czech Pub

Be sure to have goulash soup with your meal. In some restaurants hearty goulash soup is served inside a hollowed-out loaf of bread. Traditional Czech dishes include “Svíčková s knedlíkem”, a dish consisting of marinated beef fillet served with a creamy vegetable sauce and usually accompanied by Czech dumplings (knedlíky).

Also check out the “specials to Beer” appetizers on the menu. You will definitely find in the offer “tlačenka”, the dish is essentially a meatloaf or cold cut made from various pork parts, mixed with spices, vinegar, and sometimes vegetables like onions or garlic, “utopenci” consisting of sausages that are pickled in a brine of vinegar, water, onions, garlic, mustard seeds, and various herbs and spices.

For dessert we definitely recommend the ducat buns with vanilla cream.
